A major goal of the physicians and therapists is to enhance the restoration of movements lost after SCI. Following decades of research about the central nervous system (CNS) has advanced greatly, however, it is till little known about the inducing successful regeneration, especial...
متن کاملBRIEF REPORT Brain–Computer Interface for Individuals After Spinal Cord Injury
Purpose/Objective: To investigate the feasibility of brain–computer interface (BCI) with patients on an inpatient spinal cord injury (SCI) unit. Research Method/Design: This study included 25 participants aged 18–64 who sustained traumatic or nontraumatic SCI and did not have severe cognitive or psychiatric impairment. Participants completed a variety of screening measures related to cognition,...
متن کاملThe Usability and Efficiency Human-Computer Interface in Cervical Spinal Cord injury by Game-based Electromyography Biofeedback and EMG Biofeedback
Background and Aims: The purpose of this study was to compare the efficacy and usability of human-computer interface in cervical spinal cord injury with two computer games based and EMG biofeedback. Methods: The sample size was 20 participants (healthy and spinal cervical lesions) who were selected as available. The statistical population of the study was spinal cord injury patients referred t...
متن کاملOperation of a Brain-Computer Interface Walking Simulator by Users with Spinal Cord Injury
Background: Spinal cord injury (SCI) can leave the affected individuals with paraparesis or paraplegia, thus rendering them unable to ambulate. Since there are currently no restorative treatments for this population, novel approaches such as brain-controlled prostheses have been sought. Our recent studies show that a brain-computer interface (BCI) can be used to control ambulation within a virt...
متن کاملELECTROEJA CULATION FOR FERTILITY IN MEN WITH SPINAL CORD INJURY
From October 1990, to June 1992, more than 800 electroejaculations and 108 intrauterine inseminations (IUI) were performed in 250 paraplegic males and their wives.
